“Fold, Pleat, Play!” — Creative Workshop Inspired by the Accordion with facilitator: Nefeli Walton — Koukkides Costume

Inspired by the folds and movements of the accordion, this workshop invites children to discover rhythm, movement, and pattern through folding and pleating techniques. Using natural, eco-friendly, and plastic-free materials, participants will create and decorate a pleated paper collar or skirt, inspired by the shape and motion of the musical instrument.
Objectives:
 To connect artistic creation with music through rhythmic repetition and folding
techniques.
 To encourage sustainable creativity using environmentally friendly materials.
 To offer a participatory creative experience that enhances imagination and the joy of
hands-on craft.
Workshop Structure:
 Introduction (5’): A short introduction to the accordion and its rhythmic movement (with the help of an accordion player).
 Creation (15’): Children fold and pleat paper to create their own collar or skirt.
 Decoration (10’): Use of watercolors, pencils, and colored shapes to decorate, inspired by sound and rhythm.
Each session hosts approximately 8–10 children in a calm and supportive creative environment.
